To the extent he is able, Cree won't let clients' true financial hardships prevent their getting needed healing-support.

In 1998, Cree made a vow before Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi) of service above profit. He pledged to serve clients unable to pay his fees — as much as possible — and he vowed to maintain a moderate lifestyle, or semi-austerity, thus keeping his financial needs low so he can serve more of the destitute.

Amma has helped Cree see that when (some rare) clients really could make some sacrifices and pay Cree something but do not, they break the "reciprocal circuit." They actually block their own, or their loved one's, full receiving of Cree's healing-support.

(At certain times Cree must reserve part of his appointment calendar for clients who can pay fees, so that he can meet the material needs of himself and those he supports. When the number of applicants for sessions who are unable to pay full or partial fees has overwhelmed Cree's ability to serve them all with sessions, names may be put on a waiting list ranked by urgency.
